The best AI visibility tools in 2026 are Otterly.ai, Scrunch, Peec AI and Profound: platforms that run your buyers' prompts through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews every day and report how often your brand is mentioned, cited and recommended. We scored ten of them on one published framework, with every price checked on the vendor's own page in November 2026.
In short
- Best overall: Otterly.ai (22/25), from $29/month for 15 prompts, with daily tracking on ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot (pricing).
- Widest engine coverage at a public price: Scrunch, from $300/month month-to-month with 350 custom prompts across seven AI platforms (pricing).
- Enterprise pick: Profound, now sold as a free trial plus custom Enterprise plans covering up to 9 answer engines (pricing).
- Measure visibility %, not "AI rank": SparkToro found a less than 1 in 100 chance that ChatGPT or Google's AI returns the same brand list twice in 100 runs (SparkToro).
An AI visibility tool is monitoring software that repeatedly sends a set of prompts to large language models and AI search engines, then measures whether your brand appears in the answers, which of your pages are cited and how the model describes you.
That makes it a narrower category than the ones we have already compared. AI SEO software helps you create and optimize content (our best AI SEO tools comparison covers Surfer, Clearscope and the suites). Rank trackers follow classic Google positions, with AI tracking as an add-on (see our best rank tracker tools). Keyword research tools find the demand in the first place (see our best keyword research tools). The tools in this article do one job: tell you whether generative engines mention you.
Why it matters now: Pew Research Center found that Google users who saw an AI summary clicked a traditional result in 8% of visits, against 15% when no summary appeared, and clicked a link inside the summary in just 1% of visits (Pew Research Center, 2025). If the answer is the destination, being inside the answer is the new ranking.
Every tool was scored from 1 to 5 on five criteria, for a maximum of 25 points. Scores are based on features and prices published on official vendor pages in November 2026; where a feature is only described by third parties, we did not count it. We don't sell scores or positions: vendors can buy a sponsored placement on Technova, clearly labeled, but the scorecard below is applied the same way to every tool.

Measurement method carries the same weight as coverage for a reason. SparkToro's research, in which 600 volunteers ran 12 prompts 2,961 times across ChatGPT, Claude and Google's AI, concluded that brand lists are almost never repeated and recommended measuring "visibility % across dozens to hundreds of prompts run multiple times" instead of an AI ranking position (SparkToro). Tools that report presence across many daily runs score higher than tools that sell a single "position".
Otterly.ai leads our 2026 scorecard with 22/25, followed by Scrunch (21) and a tie at 20.5 between Peec AI and Profound. Peec AI takes third place on tie-break because its price is public and self-serve.

Data verified on each vendor's official pricing page, November 2026. Prices exclude VAT and change often; check the linked page before buying.
Otterly.ai wins because it pairs a $29/month entry plan with the full monitoring method: daily tracking, brand visibility and sentiment, and citation source tracking. Every plan covers four engines, ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, with Claude, AI Mode and Gemini sold as add-ons (Otterly pricing).
The Standard plan ($189/month, 100 prompts) is where it becomes a team tool: API and MCP access, Agent Analytics and 5,000 GEO URL audits a month, with unlimited team members on every tier. Otterly says it is used by more than 40,000 marketing professionals and was named a Gartner Cool Vendor for AI in Marketing in 2025 (Otterly).
The weakness is depth per euro at scale: 15 prompts on Lite is a pilot, not a programme, and adding Gemini or AI Mode raises the bill.
2. Scrunch: widest engine coverage at a public price (21/25)
Scrunch covers seven AI platforms on its entry plan: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Meta. The Starter plan costs $300 month-to-month or $250/month billed annually, and includes 350 custom prompts plus 1,000 industry prompts (Scrunch pricing), the lowest price per custom prompt in this list at roughly $0.86.
Beyond monitoring, Scrunch tracks citations, attributes AI-agent traffic to your site and sells AXP, its "Agent Experience Platform", which serves AI-friendly versions of your pages. That makes it the most complete option for teams that want to act on the data, not just read it.
The trade-off: $300 is a real commitment for a first test, and reporting integrations are less documented on the pricing page than on Peec or Otterly.
3. Peec AI: best for marketing teams that live in dashboards (20.5/25)
Peec AI is built for in-house marketing teams. The Starter plan costs $95/month for 50 prompts, one country and one project; Pro is $245/month for 150 prompts and three countries (Peec AI pricing). Every tier tracks ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI, and includes brand analytics, source analytics, gap analysis, shareable dashboards and a Google Analytics integration.
Peec says it is "trusted by 3500+ brands and agencies" (Peec AI). The gap that costs it points: Perplexity and Claude only appear in the Enterprise model list, and the Data Studio connector starts on Advanced at $495/month. For B2B teams whose buyers use Perplexity, check that first.
4. Profound: the enterprise standard, now without a self-serve plan (20.5/25)
Profound offers the deepest coverage in this comparison, up to nine answer engines on Enterprise: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search, with SSO/SAML and SOC 2 compliance (Profound pricing). Its "Agents" let teams build reusable workflows on top of the visibility data.
As of November 2026, the official pricing page lists only a free trial (50 prompts run daily for 7 days on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews) and a custom Enterprise plan. That is why Profound scores 1.5 on value and access: you cannot buy it without a sales conversation. For large brands with procurement and budget, it is the reference; for everyone else, it is a demo.
5. Ahrefs Brand Radar: best market-level view (20/25)
Ahrefs Brand Radar is different by design: instead of only tracking the prompts you choose, it measures your share of voice across an index of "519 million+ prompts" derived from Ahrefs' keyword data (Ahrefs Brand Radar). It covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode, with Claude on the higher tier.
Pricing starts at $50/month for custom prompts with daily updates, and $199/month for the AI Visibility Index. Existing Ahrefs subscribers already get between 5 and 83 tracked prompts in their paid plan. If your team lives in Ahrefs, start there before buying anything; if you need recommendations and audits, Brand Radar is lighter on actionability than the specialists.
6. SE Ranking and SE Visible: best value inside an SEO suite (20/25)
SE Ranking now includes AI visibility tracking in its Core plan (€109/month, or €87.20 billed annually): 25 prompts a day across five AI engines, including AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, ChatGPT and Copilot (SE Ranking pricing). For dedicated work, its standalone SE Visible product starts at €64/month with 75 prompts, about €0.85 per prompt.
The suite integrations (Looker Studio, GA4, Search Console, API) earn it the joint-best integration score on the board. It ranks behind Ahrefs on tie-break because Ahrefs' prompt index gives a wider market picture; SE Ranking's AI module is a solid tracker, less of an analyst.
7. AthenaHQ: most models per plan (19.5/25)
AthenaHQ has a free Essential tier with $25 of credit (300 credits) and a Starter plan at $295/month with 3,600 credits, unlimited topics, prompts and competitors, and "visibility across 11 models": ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek, Meta AI and Mistral among them (AthenaHQ pricing).
The credit model makes cost harder to forecast than a prompt quota, and API access is a paid add-on. BI connectors (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) and its Athena Citation Engine are reserved for Enterprise.
8. Rankscale: the budget entry ticket (19/25)
Rankscale is the cheapest way into the category: Essentials costs $17/month billed yearly for 120 credits, and each query costs "typically 0.25 credits per engine per prompt", across 17+ AI engines (Rankscale pricing). Every plan includes page audits, and scheduling goes from hourly to monthly. REST API arrives on Pro+ ($195/month) and white-label on Growth ($327/month). Freelancers and small agencies get broad coverage for little money; larger teams will miss integrations.
Semrush sells its AI Visibility Toolkit for $99/month, with Visibility Overview, competitor research, prompt research, Brand Performance (share of voice and sentiment) and an AI Search Site Audit (Semrush Knowledge Base). The toolkit includes 25 tracked prompts, and Prompt Tracking monitors Google AI Mode and ChatGPT; Brand Performance reports update weekly.
The research and audit features are excellent, which is why it scores 4.5 on actionability. But two engines and 25 prompts limit coverage; it makes the most sense for teams already paying for Semrush.
10. Writesonic: tracking bundled with content production (17.5/25)
Writesonic combines AI visibility tracking with AI writing and site audits. The Starter plan ($79/month billed annually) tracks 50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews and includes 15 AI articles a month (Writesonic pricing). Perplexity, Claude, Copilot and Grok only arrive on Enterprise, and the Action Center starts on Growth at $399/month. Choose it if you want one tool to find gaps and write the fix; choose a specialist if measurement is the priority.
Which AI Engines Does Each Tool Track at Entry Price?
Only Scrunch and AthenaHQ list ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI answers together on their entry plans, and Ahrefs Brand Radar covers all four across its plans; most other tools leave at least one major engine for add-ons or Enterprise.

Coverage matters because each engine cites different sources. A B2B software brand that appears in ChatGPT but not in Perplexity is invisible to the users who research with citations on screen, often the most technical buyers.
Why Visibility Percentage Beats "AI Rank"
Visibility percentage, the share of runs in which your brand appears, is the only stable metric, because AI answers change from one run to the next. SparkToro measured a less than 1 in 100 chance that ChatGPT or Google's AI returns the same brand list twice across 100 runs, and identical orderings appeared less than once per thousand runs (SparkToro).
Three practical rules follow. Track at least 50 prompts per product line, because a handful of prompts is anecdote. Run them daily and read the trend over weeks, not the daily number. And treat any "position 3 in ChatGPT" claim with suspicion; the useful question is how often you are in the answer and which of your pages the engine cites.
The good news is that visibility can be improved. The researchers who coined the term found that generative engine optimization "can boost visibility by up to 40% in generative engine responses" (Aggarwal et al., KDD 2024). A tracker is how you prove it.
Generative engine optimization tools cost between $17 and $300 per month at entry level in 2026, and about $0.85 to $4 per tracked prompt. Enterprise platforms such as Profound sell custom contracts only.
Price per prompt is the honest comparison:
- Scrunch: about $0.86 per custom prompt ($300 / 350)
- SE Visible: about €0.85 per prompt (€64 / 75)
- Writesonic: about $1.58 per prompt ($79 / 50, annual billing)
- Otterly.ai: about $1.89-$1.93 per prompt (Lite and Standard)
- Peec AI: about $1.90 per prompt ($95 / 50)
- Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit: about $3.96 per prompt ($99 / 25)
AthenaHQ and Rankscale use credits, and Ahrefs does not publish the prompt count behind its $50 entry price, so their cost per prompt depends on how many engines you query.
Choose an AI search optimization tool by the decision you need to make, not by the longest feature list.
- First test, small budget: Otterly.ai Lite or Rankscale Essentials. Prove the category before you scale it.
- In-house marketing team, 50-150 prompts: Peec AI or Otterly.ai Standard.
- You need to act on the data: Scrunch (AXP and agent traffic) or Writesonic (content plus tracking).
- Already paying for an SEO suite: use Ahrefs Brand Radar, SE Ranking or Semrush first.
- Enterprise with procurement, SSO and many brands: Profound or AthenaHQ Enterprise.
Before buying, write your prompt list. Use the questions your sales team hears, add the comparisons buyers make ("X vs Y", "best X for Z") and include your category head terms. Your keyword research tool and Search Console queries of eight words or more are a good source.
"Most companies buy an AI visibility tool before they know which prompts matter," says Alfons Marques, founder of Technova Partners and a digital transformation consultant who runs GEO programmes for B2B firms. "Start with 50 prompts your buyers actually ask, measure the share of answers you appear in for a month, and only then decide what to fix."
If you want help building that prompt set and turning the data into content and technical fixes, our SEO and digital marketing team and our SEO consulting service do exactly that.
Frequently Asked Questions
Otterly.ai scored highest in our comparison at 22/25. It combines a $29/month entry plan, daily tracking on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, citation source tracking and GEO audits. Scrunch (21/25) offers the widest coverage at a public price, and Profound leads for enterprises that can buy a custom plan.
A rank tracker measures your position in Google's classic results, sometimes with an AI module on top. An AI visibility tool sends prompts to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and AI Overviews and measures how often you are mentioned and cited. Many teams need both: use a rank tracker for Google, and an AI visibility tool for answers.
How many prompts should I track for generative engine optimization?
Start with at least 50 prompts per product line, run daily. AI answers vary so much between runs that SparkToro recommends measuring visibility across "dozens to hundreds of prompts run multiple times". Fewer prompts give anecdotes, not a trend you can report to management.
Can I track AI visibility for free?
Partly. Profound offers a 7-day trial with 50 daily prompts, AthenaHQ has a free tier with 300 credits, and Ahrefs and SE Ranking include a small prompt allowance in their paid SEO plans. Manual checks in ChatGPT are not a substitute, because a single answer tells you almost nothing about how often you appear.
Visibility you do not measure is visibility you cannot defend.
If your brand is missing from the AI answers your buyers read, talk to us: we will audit your AI visibility, define the prompts that matter and build the plan to get cited.
